    Expert notes:
The paraiba is a recent find in the history of gemology. It was discovered in the middle of the 1980s in the Paraiba state of Brazil, hence the name. From the rarest blue seen in a stone until now, the deposit exhausts itself quite rapidly. The main production today is in Mozambique. Paraiba tourmalines of Brazil remain however the most sought-after stones. The one we are presenting to you today not only derives from this desired origin, but also from an intense saturated blue that is even more rare. This gem ticks all the boxes of a precious gemstones collection.

The GRS laboratory of Switzerland estimated this stone’s quality so exceptional that it must be included in an additional appendix to the report. The latter mentions that a test of color stability has been completed. Its color, saturation and tint are of a remarkable stability. The color of this non-heated stone is therefore the result of nature occasionally exceeding the limits of perfection!

the renowned laboratories do not hesitate to award it with an adjective. If this stone had more yellow and orange in it, it would have been called ‘Hawaiian sunset’. In this case, because the salmon color dominates the stone in a homogenous way, the term ‘Sunset’ is used to define this sapphire which is salmon, but not too much, powdery pink with a few splashes of candy pink. More than 5 carats for such a color, it is definitely a rare collection stone.

Oval vivid pink sapphire of a nice color intensity of 4,61 ct. No indications of heating, this is one of the best colors that nature can produce. When you dive into the stone, the Madagascar origin is obvious and confirmed by the Carat Gem Lab report. Tiny crystal clusters inside the stone help to spread the light everywhere. Beautiful flashes with a slight touch of blue. It's beautiful. The intense color is rare and naturally shines.

    Expert notes:
We often ask the same question to gemologists. Is a color this intense due to its cut? Yes and no. A very nice cut, well chosen, not to preserve a maximum of weight but to keep its nicest color, is of course important. All we have to do is look at a pink raw sapphire and another similar but well cut one, the difference is obvious. However, in the case of beautiful sapphires, the color is always intense. The cut will only reveal the inside beauty of the stone, which is begging to shine to its peak. It is the case here.

We are here in the same level of hues, classified on the same page 7.5 Blue-Green of the Munsell Book of Color… That means that the color wanders, according to the position of the stone, in-between the different grades of saturation and density, all the while remaining in a harmony of tone. The color between pink and blue, the veil, the tender and milky element of the stone remind us of sapphires from the Batakundi area. The GIA certificate mentions that the source should be from the outskirts of Azad province, which corresponds perfectly to Batakundi.
